What have you learnt about technologies from the proses of constructing this product ?

Some of The tech I used:
  • Blogger
  • InDesign
  • Photoshop
  • Prezi
Blogger (pros/cons)

Pros
With blogger you can produce a clean and understandable piece of text and publish it in a clean and easy way. You can also post/imbed videos, slide shows, images ect. Blogger also supplies a easy way to jumping to a piece of work, no matter how far back it was produced, with speed and ease. Another good thing that Blogger lets you do is view other peoples blogs on any subject and copy and paste there words if u need quotes or if you had to post some work on another Blog. There is no limitations as to how much you can do on Blogger

Cons
The Only thing Blogger does not allow you to attach is Documents such as Word documents or Excel Documents. There are ways round this as you can screen shot your document and them imbed the image; this does not give the best finish look on your blog though. With images you cannot place them where you want its either left, middle or right and even this simple action is not does with ease; you have to go over and over to get I right. I couldn't find anyway around this.

Photoshop

Pros
With Photoshop there are many useful tools available. As I was a beginner with Photoshop I know first hand that even with limited knowledge of the work station you can still get round using Photoshop to create very satisfying pieces. Photoshop is a editing software that uses layers to section off each part of the image/design. This is very useful as you can edit single parts of a piece without effecting or changing your whole design.

Cons
Even though there are so many useful tools at hand straight away they are still very hard to grow used to. There are in-fact there are so many tools that it feels quite cluttered and stressful to use. I overcame all these issues with a lot of practise. The layers that Photoshop uses are often quite confusing as they can get mixed up with one another; there is also the issue if you are doing a large piece you can get too many layers that clutters the screen up even more.

InDesign

Pros
There are many tools available on InDesign and as apposed to Photoshop there are not all on the screen at first glance. They are in drop down tool bars and double click layer edits. This program allows you to separate each part of your work so that editing one part of your work doesn't effect the whole aesthetic. With each separate layer you get I highlighted coloured line around it so that there is no confusion as to what feature you are manipulating.

Cons
The tools that are necessary are not so much difficult but awkward to use and this creates big hols in editing that you cannot do. This just takes practise to tackle. The quality of the images in InDesign are often bad. Even if you import an image into InDesign that is initially very high quality it will come out quite pixelated. This obviously effect the final product as it makes the magazine look cheep.

Prezi

Pros
This makes long and tedious pieces of text, that for someone who is a kinaesthetic or visual learner Is absolutely useless, fun interesting and interactive to use and learn from. Also you can add images of any you choose that makes it brighter and more personalised. You can then easily share this work with anyone by embedding it into your blog where it can be made full screen and interacted with.

Cons
This software struggles with speed as there are so many animations and movements going on that they pile up and end up making It run quite slowly. You have too zoom to see the work you are using/editing/creating and this can get very confusing because it will often zoom in too much. But as all he other Applications have proved, practise is the only way around these issues.

I attracted my audience by making all of the subjects of the magazine people who they can relate to or people who they can aspire to. This, after a lot of deliberation, I felt didn’t completely do it for me. I felt there was more that I could do that would bring in people to look at the magazine, to buy the magazine, to make the magazine personal to them and a part of there life’s.  So I said to myself “if I was in there shoes, the shoes of the target audience what would I want to see in a magazine...?” then suddenly I thought “Me!”. So I came up with the idea of tackling all the wasted talent out there  in the world, so I set up a section called 'Our Unknowns' and fond people with a true love and blues within them who can sing or compose or any music related talent, and make them an article in the magazine.

The images I have used connote the general person and keep in mind that people want to see themselves on the cover. So I chose a cover story character who is achievable my the general person if they so wanted. The cover image is of my sister (as Jamie Ash) and she is in a wood with long grass looking quite normal but almost ethereal. It is a bold yet not over impressive image so as to still keep in mind the idea of achievable desire.

Colour Pallet I used was blues and Sepia (for the images). This I feel connotes the idea of the magazine being unisex/ all-inclusive and I hope this reaches out to people because they can then share it with there male and female friends.

If I include all of these things, especially the 'Our Unknowns' It will find loyalty with customers by them having the joy of being in a magazine. Then if they are featured they would feel obliged to buy the magazine more often.

I looked at'Uncut' magazine,'Rolling Stone',and 'Q' for the institution and i found that my main and only repetitive company who produce magazines like 'Q' and 'Classic Rock Magazine'.

These seem to be the ideal type of company i would go for because they are one of the most vast and prolific companies because i have ever come across, and they are a company who have very wide spread magazines such as 'Garden World' and 'GQ' that bring in most of the profit and then bring in most of the profit and then they have so much expendable income that they can afford to take a different path and take in more niche magazines like the type of magazine i am trying to produce.
